St. Louis Rams (6-7-1) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8) The Buccaneers got destroyed in New Orleans last week, losing 41-0. I generally like taking teams off a blowout loss. Teams in this situation tend to be overlooked, undervalued, and embarrassed. The most recent case of this was the Cardinals’ blowing out the Lions as huge home dogs last week after that 52-0 loss in Arizona the week before. However, I only like doing this when the team is a dog. Here as a favorite, it’s a different dynamic for the Buccaneers. They’re supposed to bounce back and win. They’re not going to be overlooked and they certainly aren’t undervalued, especially as publicly backed favorites and anyone who reads these picks frequently knows I love to fade the public because they always lose money in the long run. The Buccaneers certainly may be embarrassed (though you’d think they would have been embarrassed last week after losing at home to the lowly Eagles, but that didn’t work out), but it’s not enough for me to...

A Christmas of firsts for Rams' center Wells

ST. LOUIS Like most fathers of six kids, Scott Wells expects Christmas morning to be quite the show at his home. Wrapping paper will fly. There will be few hours of sleep. At some point during the blizzard of activity near the tree, he'll give thanks for three gifts. "It will be chaos," said Wells, the St. Louis Rams' center, who in August adopted three Ugandan...

Signs continue to point to Steven Jackson being done in St. Louis

According to Dan Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com, it’s continuing to looking like Rams running back Steven Jackson won’t be back in St. Louis next season. The way we hear it, the odds that longtime offensive centerpiece Steven Jackson will remain with the Rams after this season have dropped below 50 percent. “There’s no way I see anybody being willing to pay him $7 million...

Bucs game day: Keys to the game against the Rams

Rams' Laurinaitis big fan of teammate Jackson

St. Louis linebacker James Laurinaitis thinks it's about time Rams running back Steven Jackson got more recognition for his long, productive career. On Sunday, Jackson became the 27th player in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards when he ran for 73 yards in a 36-22 loss to Minnesota. Laurinaitis, who leads the Rams (6-7-1) with 153 tackles, believes Jackson hasn't gotten...

Bradford taking the hits for Rams

ST. LOUIS (AP) Sam Bradford has never cared much for numbers and statistics. So the St. Louis Rams quarterback was surprised to find out he has been sacked in 30 successive games, the longest current streak in the NFL. "That's great to know, thanks," he chuckled. Bradford, the top overall pick in the 2010 draft, has endured his share of bumps and bruises this season...

A Class Act

via www.stltoday.com On Sunday many watched as Adrian Peterson carved up the St. Louis Rams for 212 yards. The Minnesota running back is chasing a 2000-yard season and Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record, but you all knew that. What many people didn’t realize is what the running back on the other side of the ball was doing. St. Louis running back Steven Jackson came...

St. Louis Rams: Week 16 NFL Power Rankings (#18)

Last week: 18 (+0) Record: 6-7-1 Net points per drive: -0.43 (26th) DVOA: -5.1% (19th) Weighted DVOA: -5.2% (18th) It’s week 16 and the Rams are still mathematically alive for a playoff spot, even in the tougher NFC. It’s not an accomplishment for most teams, but given this team’s recent history, it is for them. They’ve definitely played some decent football this year and...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Week 16 NFL Power Rankings (#20)

Last week: 15 (-5) Record: 6-8 Net points per drive: -0.02 (16th) DVOA: -6.1% (21st) Weighted DVOA: -7.0% (21st) The Buccaneers hadn’t lost a single game by more than 8 points all season this year, before getting blown out 41-0 against a sub .500 Saints team last week. They quit down the stretch last season and while I think it’s unlikely that’s happening again under disciplinarian...
