Both the New England Patriots and Phildelphia Eagles had their eye on him, and former Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe made his decision today.
He just finished working out for the Eagles today, but ended up returning to New England to sign a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Patriots. $400,000 guaranteed, plus another $800,000 in incentives, according to Pro Football Talk.
The Eagles were impressed and it certainly looked as if Shiancoe was leaning a bit toward Philly. "Terrific. Very good," he said about his workout. "I like the way Philly runs things and their offense and things like that. I’m gonna have a talk with Drew and weigh our options and things like that."
We're not sure if and what the Eagles were offering, but apparently New England had the better deal.
He joins a pre-training camp TE corps of Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Daniel Fells (PUP), Jake Ballard (PUP) and Tyler Urban (who?).
