The Cleveland Browns used the 68th pick in the 2013 draft to take a corner back named Leon McFadden from San Diego state. Who coaches at San Diego State? Brian Sipe, a guy who knows a little about winning football games in Cleveland. Sipe is a quarterbacks coach for San Diego State. Not only is there a quarterback wearing the number 17 in Cleveland this year, the Browns have drafted a player who has direct ties to Sipe. Could this be a good sign of things to come? Can the Browns turn things around for one of the best fan bases in the NFL? We’re hoping they can. Cleveland has some high hurdles to get over this season. The team appears to be putting together one heck of a good defense on paper anyway. It is hard to say just how good the team can be this year. They have a new coaching staff with a head coach with no experience as a head coach. The only plus is, he brought in some coordinators who have plenty of NFL experience. With McFadden coming to Cleveland to play corner back, the ...

Browns’ unexciting draft low on fun, but high on strategy

Sometimes punchlines are just too easy. The low-hanging fruit dangling mere inches from the blades of grass. The Browns traded two straight draft picks and you would have thought they’d done this as a part of their M.O. for decades and decades. “The Browns are on the clock… you know to trade another pick!” Hilarious. Yes, the Browns have traded in the draft in recent years...

The Browns have essentially forfeited the 2013 season

Usually we have to wait until late September to officially declare the Cleveland Browns dead in the water, but this year, I think it's safe to make that declaration following the first five rounds of the draft. The Cleveland Browns let Michael Lombardi out of hiding to hold a press conference on the Davone Bess trade.

For most of the off-season Joe Banner and the Cleveland Browns have kept general manager Michael Lombardi in hiding. Banner said earlier that Lombardi was too much of a lightning rod. The Cleveland media has a field day when they have a chance to pick on Lombardi, most of the Cleveland fan base remembers all too well about Lombardi’s troubled past with the Cleveland Browns. It...

Barkevious Mingo is a Cleveland Brown

It’s not necessarily the most exciting thing when your team uses the sixth overall pick to take a guy who, according to popular consensus, is the third best player available in a draft at a position. But Barkevious Mingo might be better suited to play 3-4 outside linebacker, as opposed to a 4-3 end, than any of the “edge rusher” prospects in this draft, which would help explain...
