Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is typically hitting up any golf tournament he can get his hands on during the NFL offseason. It looks like this year is a little different now that Jerry Jones is heavily invested in him after signing him to a lucrative extension.
Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com listed the golf tournaments that Romo has held out from this year.
Tony Romo has passed on playing the Azalea Invitational in Charleston, S.C., one of the better amateur tournaments anywhere, the local Adams Golf Pro/Scratch, which he has won in the past, and will not attempt to qualify for the HP Byron Nelson Championship or the U.S. Open.
Aside from getting a new contract, I’m sure Romo is motivated by the fact that Jones wants him to work as hard as Peyton Manning.
