NFL Trade Rumors:
Vikings HC Leslie Frazier announced that Christian Ponder will be the team’s starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Josh Freeman wasn’t at practice on Friday, so it was pretty clear that the Vikings were going to play Ponder over him this weekend.
After throwing Freeman into the mix a few weeks ago, it appears as though they now intend to give him the necessary time to learn their system before he gets another shot. If you’re going to properly evaluate a player, you need to make sure that he’s capable of executing your gameplan, or there really isn’t much to takeaway from his performance.
Minnesota could always make a switch at some point in the near future if Ponder continues to struggle. After all, they paid Freeman a decent amount of money for just a few games.
