Giants fans can find solace in knowing that, at least according to them, both left tackle Will Beatty and safety Stevie Brown will be ready to go for training camp. The Star-Ledger’s Conor Orr provided the update on Beatty while Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News reported the good news regarding Brown. Both athletes are recovering from devastating injuries that cut their 2013 season short—Brown’s ended via a torn ACL during the preseason before the regular season ever even got underway. Beatty had a very difficult 2013 season and rated as one of the Giants’ worst offensive linemen, per Pro Football Focus. He’s been penciled in as the starting left tackle this season by offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, but if he plays poorly again, don’t be surprised if he’s bumped to the right side by second-year tackle Justin Pugh or completely out of the lineup by free-agent acquistion Charles Brown. Brown, meanwhile, is expected to be the starting free safety alongside strong safety Antrel Rolle. He was to compete with Will Hill for the job, but that all changed once the Giants cut ties with Hill following his third drug-related suspension in three years.
