There's horrible news being reported out of Santa Clara today.
According to CBS San Francisco, a construction worker was killed at the site of the 49ers' new Levi's Stadium.
Santa Clara city spokesman Dan Beerman detailed the incident, saying the victim was working in an elevator shaft when another worker “took a car down the shaft” and accidentally crushed him. The accident occurred at 6:45 a.m. local time.
The victim was an employee for the $1.3 billion stadium project’s general contractor, Turner-Devcon.
“It’s a shame because we’ve had 1,000 people a day working on that site for well over a year now and we’ve had very minimal accidents, and to have this is just devastating for everybody,” Beerman said.
“Everybody’s walking around here in a daze,” he said.
