Linebacker Eric Bakhtiari was signed to a two-year contract by the San Francisco 49ers. The former University of San Diego star and San Mateo, Calif. native appeared in three games for the 49ers earlier this season. Report: 49ers worked out Shawne Merriman

According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, the San Francisco 49ers worked out free agent linebacker Shawne Merriman on Wednesday, but ended up signing Eric Bakhtiari while Clark Haggans serves his three game suspension.
