Apparently, I missed an exciting New York Rangers’ game last night as the Blueshirts scored with 0.1 second left to go in regulation time to beat the Phoenix Coyotes by a score of 3-2. I was lucky enough to see the replay of Brad Richards scoring the game winner but could not believe that the team won the game in this fashion. This was a game that the Rangers needed to win to get back on the right track and to do it in that manner was certainly exciting. It was nice to see highlights of the game and see that Marian Gaborik picked-up two goals. He had been struggling the last few games to do just that but with his two goals last night, Gaborik now has 17 goals and also leads the team in points with 27. Of course, it was also nice to see Richards come through with the game winner. The Blueshirts are paying him a lot of money to do things like that and with 26 points in 30 games, it is easy to see that the deal is working out for all involved. Based on the statistics, Rangers’ back...

Play of the Season: Brad Richards Amazing Backhand Goal

… I can’t stop watching this. This definitely was one of the most amazing ends to a Rangers game I have seen since they won the Cup.  .1 seconds left and it goes in, just wow. Amazing.

Richards Nets Winner For Rangers With .1 Second Left

The New York Rangers snapped their two game losing streak at the last possible moment when Brad Richards scored with .1 seconds left on the clock in regulation.  Richards took a Ryan McDonagh backhand pass and fired a backhander from the left circle towards the net and it beat goaltender Mike Smith to send the Rangers home winners.  This was the type of play that Richards...

On Saturday night in Phoenix, New York Rangers forward Brad Richards scored the game-winning goal with 0.1 seconds remaining, giving the Rangers a dramatic 3-2 victory...

Senators Trade Emphasises Need for Rangers Patience

The Rangers have been building the right way in recent seasons.  The occasional savvy veteran addition, plenty of youth periodically injected onto the roster while the club continue to draft well. Then, when the time has been right the club have added an elite free agent like Gaborik or Richards. It all amounts to solid organisational development. When Bobby Ryan was (apparently...

Rangers 3, Coyotes 2

Brad Richards was just trying to shoot the puck on net before time ran out. Swinging a backhander from the left circle as the final seconds ticked off, Richards' shot deflected off of Keith Yandle's right leg and found its way into the Coyotes net with 0.1 seconds remaining to give the Rangers a dramatic 3-2 win over Phoenix. ''I was trying to throw something on...

Power Rankings (Week of 12/19/11)

CBS Sports drops the Rangers one spot to #5 in their most recent power rankings...5. Rangers - The Rangers needed every 10th of a second on the clock to beat the Coyotes on Saturday night as Brad Richards' buzzer-beater crossed the goal line just before time expired in the third period. It's been that kind of season for the Rangers.ESPN.com (8), The Hockey News (6) and TSN...

Jan Levine: Game 30: NYR 3 PHX 2, Gabby, Biron & Richards Step Up, Shorthanded D

Saturday's win over Phoenix, as thrilling as it was, is now a faded memory given the issues on the blue line for the Rangers. Yes, Marion Gaborik had two, including the 300th of his career; Brad Richards played Beat the Clock and did by .1 to win the game; and, Martin Biron played well enough to pick up the victory, but those two points while nice, mean little now. During...

Tale of the Tape, Erixon Expected, Staal Status

Brad Richards' game-winning goal with just 0.1 seconds left on the clock was a memorable one last night in Glendale, Arizona, where the Rangers defeated the Coyotes, 3-2. It is always the desire of a fan to re-live such moments over and over and over again, so I give to you the video, along with the gameclock, of last night's incredible buzzer-beater...   h/t to reader...

An Intriguing Tilt at The Rock

That is exactly what tonight’s game between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils is shaping up to be. Both clubs are playing well, in the top eight in the Eastern Conference and are only separated by three points. Sounds like old-time Patrick Division hockey, eh? The Blueshirts are coming off a dramatic win over the Phoenix Coyotes. In the game, Marian Gaborik picked-up...

Buzzer Beater – Rangers @ The Next Team To Be Relocated Post Game Thoughts…

I’m not quite as old as some of the bloggers out there. But I’ve been watching the Rangers, and hockey in general for about 25 years now (from the age of 6), and I have never, ever, seen anything like tonight. A goal with 0.1 seconds remaining? I’ve seen a few 7 second goals. I’ve seen a few dramatic game winners. But 0.1 seconds to go? That is just incredible. The...

Rangers-Devils Preview

A dramatic, last-second victory may have given the New York Rangers renewed momentum. Riding a four-game winning streak, the New Jersey Devils have plenty already. The local rivals meet for the first time this season Tuesday night in New Jersey. Brad Richards scored with one-tenth of a second left in regulation to give New York (18-8-4) a 3-2 win at Phoenix on Saturday. The innocuous...

Postgame: Rangers Edge Coyotes with Last-Second Goal

HBO cannot be any happier with the material they’ve been provided with from the New York Rangers over the past couple of weeks. There have been ups, there have been downs, there’s been controversy, there’s been adversity, and now there’s what seemed like a scripted finish in tonight’s win over the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale, Arizona. The drama that has surrounded this...
