It comes as no surprise, but Ryan Callahan and the Tampa Bay Lightning are not going to come to an agreement prior to free agency. According to Renaud Lavoie, the Lightning and Callahan will continue to negotiate, but it appears a deal won’t be completed prior to free agency. Callahan’s $7M per for 7 year demand with the Rangers was pure insanity. The number and term eventually came down, but never to a reasonable enough level for the team that valued him the most to to re-sign him. Enjoy Buffalo, I guess.
