The Bruins have a good amount of defensive depth, and that will be put to the test on Saturday night in Game 2 against Toronto with the B’s missing one of their veteran defensemen. Andrew Ference has been suspended one game for his hit on Mikhail Grabovski in Game 1, meaning Boston will be without the battle-tested blue liner for the second game. That opens the door for one of the club’s young players. Dougie Hamilton may be back in the lineup for Game 2 on Saturday night, although Boston head coach Claude Julien isn’t ready to announce the decision yet. Julien said after practice Friday that he’d make his decision Saturday, but Hamilton looks like he might be the guy Julien goes with. Hamilton skated alongside Game 1 hero Wade Redden at practice Friday. If the B’s do put Hamilton into the lineup, it would likely mean that the top pairing of Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg would be split up. Chara was with Adam McQuaid at practice Friday, while Seidenberg was with Johnny Boychuk. Hamilton was a healthy scratch a handful of times down the stretch in the regular season, and he hasn’t played since April 23 in a loss to the Flyers. He was a minus-2 in that game. Coach Julien speaking to media now postpractice & was asked if Dougie will play tomorrow: "We'll see...we'll make that decision tomorrow"^CS— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) May 03, 2013 #Bruins D pairings: Chara-McQuaid, Seidenberg-Bocyhuk, Redden-Hamilton— Bruins Daily (@BruinsDaily) May 03, 2013
