NHL Hot Stove Staff According to Rogers Sportsnet report Roger Millions, the Calgary Flames have inked defenceman Anton Babchuk to a new two-year contract. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but this is good news for the Flames back end. After recently trading Robyn Regehr to the Buffalo Sabres, Flames GM Jay Feaster knew that re-signing Babchuk was a must to keep some of the core together. Acquired early in to the 2010-11 season, Babchuk put up solid numbers with the Flames, scoring eight goals for 27 points in 65 games with Calgary, it’s also worth mentioning that he was a plus-18 on a team that didn’t even make the playoffs. His season totals were 11 goals in the full 82 game season with both the Flames and Hurricanes. Over his 250 career NHL games the Ukraine native has 34 goals for 94 point — his best year came in 2008-09 with the Hurricanes where he scored 16 goals in 72 games.
