Lots of excitement as the Dan Girardi All Star write-in campaign began yesterday with numerous tweets, Facebook messages and e-mails encouraging others to vote for the Rangers underappreciated defenseman or just letting other Blueshirts fans know that they had voted. Here's a pic reader John D. sends me of him doing his part...

The campaign also received a nice plug from Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy.

There was a little voting confusion yesterday so I wanted to clear up a few things. Unlike last year there is a limit to the amount of votes you can make per day. You are limited to 30 online ballot votes and 30 text votes per day for a total of 60 votes per day. You can also use the mobile ballot to vote but it doesn't allow for write-ins.

Also to make life easier for everyone texting on an Android phone, reader Vinnie L. tells me that there is an Android text messaging app called GO SMS that allows you to pre-schedule multiple text messages to be sent whenever you want. Vinnie has his set to send 30 texts of "Girardi" to shortcode 81812 every morning at 6am when he's still asleep. No more typing each day or forgetting to vote if it's a busy day.

Just a reminder only six players are voted into the All Star Game. Three forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender. So we have our work cut out for us.

While yesterday was an amazing start now is the hard part. Trying to keep it going until voting closes on January 4th. So I ask everyone at least once a day tweet, Facebook, e-mail or call every friend, co-worker and family member to remind them to vote their 60 times a day.

With maximum effort and dedication we can get Dan Girardi into the 2012 All Star Game.

You can vote for Girardi through the online ballot or texting Girardi to the shortcode 81812 (Message and data rates may apply)
