Left wing Kristian Huselius made his season debut in Edmonton on Friday. It was a long road back from a frustrating injury suffered over the summer while lifting weights in his native Sweden. "It was nice to be out there," Huselius said. "It's hard. It's going to take some time to get up to speed." Huselius wasn't expecting to return until next week, likely Tuesday in Montreal, and he said he hadn't taken a full practice with the club before Friday's game. But coach Scott Arniel leaned on him hard in recent days, coercing him to play. He almost played on Thursday at Calgary but waited one extra day instead. He played 19 minutes, 27 seconds and had a minus-2 rating. Huselius has missed 68 of the Blue Jackets' last 90 games. He suffered a high ankle sprain early last season, a groin injury at midseason and a hip injury late in the season that required offseason surgery. Then this summer, he tore his pectoral muscle while lifting weights, requiring surgery and a long rehab. NOTES, QUOTES --Just when the Blue Jackets are expecting a full complement of forwards, another one goes down. Kristian Huselius made his season debut on Friday in Edmonton, but center Jeff Carter was out of the lineup with a sprained left ankle. He's day to day, coach Scott Arniel said, and could play on Tuesday in Montreal. --The Blue Jackets are hoping for a big weekend at the Board of Governors meetings in Pebble Beach, Calif. The Jackets have made it known to the NHL that they'd like to join the Eastern Conference when the league realigns for the 2012-13 season. QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's nothing. Two goals means nothing without two points." -- Blue Jackets right wing Derek Dorsett, who had his first two-goal game in Friday's 6-3 loss to Edmonton. ROSTER REPORTPLAYER NOTES --C Jeff Carter was out of the lineup on Friday in Edmonton because of a left ankle sprain. Carter could return on Tuesday in Montreal, coach Scott Arniel said, but he'll be evaluated on Saturday. Carter missed 10 games earlier this season because of a fractured right foot. --RW Derek Dorsett had the first two-goal game of his career on Friday in a 6-3 loss to Edmonton. In the process, he also scored the first shorthanded goal of his career. --LW Kristian Huselius played 19 12 minutes and was minus-2 in his season debut Friday in Edmonton. Huselius had missed the first 25 games of the season but stepped into the lineup on the No. 1 line with Antoine Vermette and Rick Nash. MEDICAL WATCH: --C Jeff Carter (ankle) is day-to-day. --G Mark Dekanich (groin) came up lame during warmups of a minor league game on Nov. 11 and is out indefinitely. --D Radek Martinek (concussion) is out indefinitely.
