Via Puck Drunk Love:
Ceremonial puck drops have become pretty routine. Player X walks out, drops the puck and that's that. The Toronto Maple Leafs decided to add some creativity to their opening puck drop, dropping the puck from the International Space Station.
Some friends in high places (literally) and a bit of TV magic combined to make this one of the most fun and most innovative puck drops in NHL history. Toronto also did a tremendous job of incorporating names of old such as Felix Potvin, Darcy Tucker, Darryl Sittler and Johnny Bower.
The bar has been set quite high. Here's hoping more teams flex their creative muscle and try to liven up the usual boring, mundane opening ceremonies.
