Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall was suspended two games by the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety Friday afternoon for a kneeing incident that occurred Thursday during the Oilers’ 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild.I knew there was going to be a suspension after this hit. Simply, because of the time Cal Clutterbuck takes to get up off of the ice. Right off the bat, for those may not know, I am an Edmonton Oilers fan. A suspension was probably warranted. However, do I think the hit was as vicious as the above video describes: absolutely not. A lot of people in the media were calling for a substantial 5 to 10 game sentence. In my opinion, this incident doesn't even qualify as knee-on-knee; it was more like hip on knee. In addition, Taylor Hall has no history of violent offenses.1 to 2 games was the proper punishment here. Clutterbuck, should know better than anyone in the league that not all hits are properly executed. I don't think, this injury was intentional. Cal Clutterbuck is always going to be a target, as he is a player that leads the NHL in hits on a year-to-year basis.I am actually surprised, situations like this don't happen more often involving this player...Posted by: HockeyFanLand.Watch the video of the hit here.
