The Minnesota Wild have locked up the goalie position for at least the next few seasons. The team announced Tuesday that they have re-signed goalie Josh Harding to a three-year contract. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the contract is worth 5.7 million. Harding, 28, has spent six seasons with Minnesota, but has never played in more than 34 games in a single season. His career high for games played came last season, but Harding still missed time with an injury. Harding missed all of the 2010-11 season after tearing his ACL and MCL in a preseason game. Appearing in 117 games in six seasons, Harding has compiled a 41-51-8 record with a 2.65 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. With starting net minder Niklas Backstrom entering the final year of his contract, Harding elected to stay in Minnesota, rather than chase a starting role elsewhere. The Wild have multiple talented young goalie prospects, but none are likely ready to compete fulltime in the NHL just yet.
