Offseason Evaluation: Mathieu Perreault
As the 2011-12 season has come to a close, the time has come to evaluate what it meant for the Capitals, both as a team and as individuals. As such, as the summer progresses, I will be writing a report card, or individual evaluation, for each player who played in 9 (~10%) of the team's games, or 4 playoff games. Next up is center Mathieu Perreault, who finished his fifth season...

Matty Perreault vs. the Big, Bold Boston Bruins
The Capital who torched the Boston Bruins most this year offensively was … Mathieu Perreault?
Be honest. If you had to guess the team you thought an undersized NHLer not named Martin St. Louis would get a hat trick against, would the Boston Bruins have cracked your top 29?
Probably not. But, for the Capitals, this description has turned in the most points against the Bruins...

Caps player scores with face
Capitals forward Mathieu Perreault scored a goal during the third period of Washington's game against the Sentators in Ottawa last night. Normally that wouldn't be too out of the ordinary, except this one was because Perreault didn't use his stick to score...he used his face.
When Capitals winger Jason Chimera crossed the puck in towards the net, the puck deflected...

Capitals C Perreault scores goal off his tongue
Washington Capitals center Mathieu Perreault scored his most painful goal of his career.
During Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators, Perreault brought the Capitals within two midway through the third period. Jason Chimera's shot deflected off the stick of All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson and then off Perreault's tongue and past Craig Anderson.

BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY
Video: Capitals player scores goal with his face
One of the tougher things a hockey player might be asked to do is to stand in front of the opposing goalie to block his vision. Few guys have the intestinal fortitude to take the random slashes to the backs of their legs meanwhile trying to deflect 90+ miles per hour slap shots headed in their direction. In Tuesday's game against the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals Mathieu...

In the third period of Wednesday night's NHL game in Ottawa between the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators, Capitals forward Mathieu Perreault took a puck in the face, but got credit for a goal after the puck went past Senators goalie Craig Anderson into the net.
When Capitals winger Jason Chimera passed the puck inside towards the goal, the puck bounced off the stick...

Ignore the Establishment, Vote Ross Perreault
I decided to go with the Hat Trick and talk about Mathieu Perreault. I gotta be honest I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of something good to say, but it’s an impossibility. “But the Great 8 is out and Perreault is stepping up to meet the challenge!” Calm down VTB, Ovechkin is only out 3 games and besides, Perreault is a Center, Ovechkin...
