Arsenals move to sign Karim Benzema has taken a major blow after his agent declares that the striker will not be leaving the Bernabeu this summer. The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Real Madrid number nine as Arsene Wenger looks to add his first major summer signing to his squad. The Arsenal manager has been under increased pressure to spend and add to his depleted squad which saw 16-year-old Gideon Zalalem on the substitute bench – just 48 hours after receiving his GCSE results. But Benzema’s agent Karim Djaziri firmly quashes a move which will see the French international join the Emirates. He told French paper Le Journal du Dimanche: “We can't stop the rumours. But I tell you: Karim will not go to Arsenal. It's never been a question for him and no contact has been made.” Real Madrid are set to announce the world record £86m deal for Gareth Bale within a matter of days but Djaziri states that Benzema will not lose his place in the side following the Welsh star’s arrival.
