Eagles Day Two Options
It almost feels weird that the Eagles drafted the person that we thought they would. Fletcher Cox was the popular choice for the Eagles in the first round, and that is who they ended up with.
In order to move up to get Cox, they had to sacrifice a 4th and 6th round pick. The good news is that shouldn’t change their day two plans too much.
If I was in the Eagles war room,...

Rounding Up the Eagles 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Not sure who the Eagles are going to draft in the first round? Neither am I. Over the last month or so, we’ve taken a closer look at some prospects who the Eagles may consider. Most of these are first round type targets, but there are also a number of players on the list who are projected to be taken outside of the first round.
I am extremely excited to see how the draft...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: McNeese State Safety Janzen Jackson
When does baggage outweigh athletic ability? That will be the question with the troubled Janzen Jackson. If you’re not familiar with his story, he started his collegiate career at the University of Tennessee and came there as a highly touted recruit. However, he was released from the university and joined McNeese State where his father was the head coach.
At 5-11 and 188...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Nevada Linebacker James-Michael Johnson
James-Michael Johnson is a small school prospect out of Nevada who has experiencing playing on both the outside and inside. He started on the outside and finished out his career at Nevada in the middle.
Johnson measures 6-1 and 241 pounds and has some decent speed. At this years NFL Combine, Johnson recorded a 4.68 40-yard dash time. He also showed off his athleticism recording...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Arkansas Wide Receiver Joe Adams
You can never have enough guys on your offense who have the ability to make big plays. I think the Eagles were have the opportunity to add a few more of these guys through the draft. One possibility is Arkansas wide receiver Joe Adams.
At 5-11 and 180 pounds, he’s a little bit bigger than DeSean Jackson but basically has the same frame. He has the same kind of speed as Jackson...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Clemson Defensive Tackle Brandon Thompson
At 6-2 and 315 pounds, defensive tackle Brandon Thompson is yet another talented player in this years class at the position.
Hailing from Clemson, Thompson is a powerful player that is known for being a great run defender. He has a tremendous first step which allows him to be a disruptive force in the middle. His quickness allows him to shoot gaps quickly and doesn’t allow...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Oregon Running Back LaMichael James
With LeSean McCoy coming off a terrific season, there is no question mark surrounding the Eagles staring quarterback position. However, there is a question about who will backup McCoy. The Ronnie Brown experience failed last year, and there are question marks around Dion Lewis.
The Eagles may look to the draft to find a guy who can take some pressure off McCoy. One option they...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Penn State Defensive Tackle Devon Still
Consistently inconsistent. I think that is a fair assessment of Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still. At times, he shows flashes of absolute greatness. However, there are also periods of time that go by where Still just seems to go through the motions and makes no impact.
Early on at this year’s NFL Combine, I really liked when Still came out and stated with confidence...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Michigan State Quarterback Kirk Cousins
Although there are many who don’t want to see the Eagles draft a quarterback this year, there are concerns about the current backup situation. History tends to repeat itself, and if that holds true, odds are that we will see a backup quarterback forced into the starting role at some point in 2012.
Given that concern, the Eagles are doing their homework and one prospect I&...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Memphis Defensive Tackle Dontari Poe
NFL star or Combine star? That’s the big question everyone is asking when it comes to Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe. After topping the charts in the bench press and running a great 40-yard dash for a man his size, Poe’s draft stock has skyrocketed.
It’s pretty hard to project what Poe’s ceiling will be in the NFL. Does he have a lot of upside? Sure...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Alabama Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick
As of late, I’ve seen some discussion about the Eagles maybe trying to draft a corner in the first round. I’m not sure how seriously they would consider doing that, but of course we never know with them. An option they would have in the first round is Alabama corner Dre Kirkpatrick.
Personally, I’ve always liked corners who have a bit more size and Kirkpatrick...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Utah State Linebacker Bobby Wagner
As the draft gets closer and closer, my gut tells me more and more the Eagles won’t take a linebacker in the first round. Realistically, the only real possibility I see would be Luke Kuechly, and I just don’t see it happening.
I can definitely see a linebacker being on the radar on the second day of the draft, and one possibility may be Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Florida Running Back Chris Rainey
The Eagles have tried to use Chad Hall as a hybrid type of player in their offense. University of Florida running back Chris Rainey projects to have the same type of role in the NFL and the Eagles seem to think he could be an option for them, bringing Rainey in for a private workout.
At 5-8 and 180 pounds, Rainey is by no means a big guy. Chad Hall actually has seven pounds on...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Nebraska Linebacker Lavonte David
The Eagles made a huge upgrade to the middle linebacker position when they traded for DeMeco Ryans. However, they can still use some help on the outside and will more than likely look to the draft to do so. A solid option to do this would be Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David.
At 6-1 and 233 pounds, one of the biggest knocks against David is his size. However, based on looking...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Michigan State Defensive Tackle Jerel Worthy
The defensive tackle position is one that the Eagles seem to have a lot of interest in. Many are projecting the Eagles to take one in the first round. However, we all know that the Eagles like to surprise everyone, so there is no guarantee.
One defensive tackle they may have their eye on is Jerel Worthy out of Michigan State who has decided to skip his senior season and enter this...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Marshall Defensive End Vinny Curry
The Philadelphia Eagles have consistently shown a desire for terrific line play, drafting six linemen with their past seven first round picks. Out of those six linemen, four of them have been on the defensive side of the ball. The Eagles clearly value the success that comes along with great lines, but how do you find the right personnel to make the line great?
The Eagles past...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: California Linebacker Mychal Kendricks
After adding DeMeco Ryans, the likelihood of the Eagles looking for a linebacker in the first round has diminished. The option can’t be completely ruled out, but bringing in Ryans and Andy Reid’s track record tend to make you think that way.
With two picks in the second round, this may be a more likely option for the Eagles to bring in an addition to their current group...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Alabama Safety Mark Barron
Nobody wanted to see Brian Dawkins go. He was and always will be a Philadelphia legend. The departure of Dawkins became even worse as the Eagles have continued to struggle in replacing him. When Quintin Mikell left, things seemed to get even worse.
The Eagles have attempted to make efforts to bring in talent at the safety position through the draft, but none of their options have...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: North Carolina Defensive End Quinton Coples
Two years ago, the Eagles drafted Brandon Graham and hoped he could be a forceful pass rusher opposite Trent Cole. Graham is yet to live up to expectations, so the Eagles may try to find a young stud again this year. One option they may explore is North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples.
At 6-6 and 285 pounds, Coples doesn’t exactly fit the bill of pass rushers the Eagles...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Notre Dame Wide Receiver Michael Floyd
Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd had a very productive career in college. He is drawing a lot of interest from teams in the top half of the first round, and the Eagles decided to check him out for themselves last week.
At 6-3, 220 pounds, one of Floyd’s biggest assets is his size. He can be a very physical receiver and has the ability to go up for jump balls and haul...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: North Carolina Linebacker Zach Brown
With the addition of DeMeco Ryans, the Eagles may likely hold off drafting a linebacker in the first round. If they do, one option that may be available to them is North Carolina linebacker Zach Brown.
Brown stands at 6-1, 244 pounds and has outstanding speed. At the NFL Combine this year, Brown recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.50 which ranked second among all linebackers.
He...
