Actor Jaleel White launching cannabis line featuring 'Purple Urkle' strain on 4/20

Jaleel White will forever be known as Steve Urkel, but the 44-year-old compared himself to a different character while discussing his new cannabis line ItsPurpl, in partnership with 710 Labs, that will appropriately launch on April 20.

"To smoke the end result from such a quality pod has been surreal,” White told Forbes' Lindsey Bartlett. “I feel a little bit like Willy Wonka, the flavor came out so similar to grape candy."

The collection includes a variant of Purple Urkle, as described on the official website: "If you ever smoked the old school purple urkle back in the day, then this is the one you have been waiting for. The taste is a sweet syrup berry with a hint of funky skunk and is packed with flavor until the end of your joint. The bud structure has big circular buds with deep purple colors."

Purple Urkle became popular around the same time White became popular as Urkel on Family Matters, which ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998.

"At first it was flattering but then it became frustrating seeing and hearing about Purple Urkle in the cannabis marketplace," he told Bartlett. "The thing that always stood out to me was there no clear brand leader for fire purple weed. It made no sense to me no company of significance had claimed this lane, so why not me?"

ItsPurpl will first be sold on California dispensary shelves, while merchandise is available online.
