Ahsoka Season 2 has begun production. While fans are certainly excited to see what is in store for Anakin’s former padawan, a picture revealed at Comic-Con has gotten them excited about another fan favorite: Star Wars Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka Season 2’s Ezra Bridger vs. Season 1

The first season of Ahsoka featured appearances by several Star Wars Rebels characters, including Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla. However, it was Ezra’s appearance after spending years in exile that had fans excited. Eman Esfandi managed to capture the spirit of animated Ezra, despite the fact that he was now older and scraggly, having even grown a beard.

Now, Ezra’s Cleaned Himself Up

In the new still from Ahsoka Season 2, Ezra’s gotten rid of the beard. He’s wearing a distinctive Han Solo-style blue jacket, and he’s smiling. Indeed, he looks like life’s been treating him better since Season 1, and he better resembles the spunky teenager he was at the beginning of Rebels, before various hardships drove him down. Seeing this new Ezra has enhanced fans’ excitement about Season 2, despite Season 1’s somewhat middling reception. Perhaps, like Rebels before it, Ahsoka will truly start shining in its second season.

Will Natalie Portman be in Ahsoka Season 2?

Of course, fans are also wondering if we will see more familiar faces in Season 2. Hayden Christensen got to return as Anakin’s ghost in Season 1, and he will be coming back in Season 2, but people wonder if Natalie Portman’s Padme Amidala will make an appearance as well. She isn’t a Jedi, so seeing her ghost is unlikely, but perhaps she could appear in a flashback. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka and Padme were friends, so it would make sense for Ahsoka to fondly remember Padme. Nothing is known right now, but who knows? Perhaps Disney could convince Natalie Portman to don Senator Amidala’s elaborate outfits once again.
