Music icon Billy Joel’s documentary, “And So It Goes”, is available on HBO Max, with the second part released on July 25, and now he has released a 115-song companion album! The long playlist is fitting for the 5-hour documentary. It’s the perfect soundtrack for your summer!
The playlist features 7 hours of music spanning his 5-decade career, including the biggest hits, as well as previously unreleased demos and live recordings. It even includes music from his first live performance, “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” as well as music from his bands, The Lost Souls and The Hassels. Added to all of that, you’ll hear song introductions from Billy Joel himself and other audio clips from the documentary.
“‘Big Shot’ was a hangover song. I don’t know how many times I woke up in the morning realizing I was an idiot the night before, felt like hell, had a hungover. You look in the mirror and you go, ‘You had to be a big shot, didn’t you?’”
There’s a whole host of new songs in the list including “Tomorrow Is Today (2025 Mix),” “You’re My Home (Live At Sparks),” “Everybody Has A Dream (Cold Spring Harbor Sessions),” “Vienna (Nuremberg Masterclass),” and No Man’s Land (The Shelter Island Sessions).”
You can stream the playlist from Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and more. It’s even available on YouTube, where video footage, including live performances and classic official music videos, is included when available.
According to a press release from Sony Music, additional rare archived music from Billy Joel will be released over the next year. “An Innocent Man (Live in London)” will also be available via YouTube. It will come out over the next few months. Additionally, “Greatest Hits Volume I and II,” initially released in 1985, will be reissued on vinyl for its 40th anniversary on August 22nd and is now available for preorder.
