Fans want an ‘Abbott Elementary’ crossover with these 21 TV shows

ABC's Abbott Elementary is one of the few shows keeping traditional network television alive. A critic's dream and fans' must-tweet series, Abbott Elementary has brought back many of the elements TV viewers have missed since streaming ripped away sitcom traditions like starting in the fall and wrapping before summer, amazing guest stars, and soon enough — a crossover event like when Urkel from Family Matters used to pop up on Full House or how New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine pulled it off when the latter moved to Fox.

Fans haven't seen it in a decade or so. Quinta Brunson and the crew will do it, but with what show? They said it was a show that fell under the ABC umbrella, so that narrows it down. However, fans across the interwebs have been offering up their own suggestions. It doesn't matter that some aren't ABC or that some have been off the air for a while; these are the shows fans want Abbott Elementary to crossover with.

‘The Office’

‘The Office’
Universal Television

Fans would love to see so many shows from the past cross paths with Abbott Elementary, and some of them make the most sense, given the locale and situation. Just think of someone, perhaps Dwight Schrute, trying to secure a paper deal with Abbott’s school district. The meeting between him and Ava would be iconic.

‘English Teacher’

‘English Teacher’
IMDB/FX

English Teacher drew a lot of comparisons to Abbott Elementary before it even aired, but it’s clear within five minutes the shows only have a school setting in common. However, it’d be interesting to see these two casts of teachers connect at a teachers conference one day.

‘The Bear’

‘The Bear’
FX

Ayo Edebiri played Janine Teagues’ sister on Abbott Elementary , so some want to see a crossover that really only makes sense if it ignores the fact that their mother on the school-based sitcom is alive and Taraji P. Henson, unlike Ayo’s mother in The Bear, who has passed.

‘Sesame Street’

‘Sesame Street’
Sesame Workshop

Sesame Street has been educating the youth of America since 1969, and with Abbott Elementary being a show whose foundation is rooted in such - it’d be the perfect, most adorable collaboration that the ABC hit could do. Perhaps Abbott wins a visit from Elmo and the gang?

‘Breaking Bad’

‘Breaking Bad’
AMC

In an alternative universe, Walter White beat cancer, moved his family away from the crime scene of New Mexico, and resettled in Philly. Now, he’s looking for a science teacher job upstairs in the middle school with Jacob.

‘Elementary’

‘Elementary’
CBS

Sometimes, it’s not about anything more than the name.

‘Wednesday’

‘Wednesday’
Netflix

Wednesday Addams might just be the type of energy Janine needs in her life.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
IMDB

While Abbott Elementary has already featured a few queens from Drag Race, winners Symone and Shea Coulee, some fans would love to see season 15 queen Plasma stop by to play Jacob’s brother.

9 of 21

‘Euphoria’

‘Euphoria’
HBO

Barbara would have the youths in Euphoria’s lives cleaned up within one singular episode.

10 of 21

‘Parks and Recreation’

‘Parks and Recreation’
Universal Television

Janine and Leslie Knope could save the world with their optimism.

‘And Just Like That…’

‘And Just Like That…’
HBO Max

If anything, Ava and Samantha would go way back.

‘Superstore’

‘Superstore’
NBC

The teachers head to Missouri for an education convention and find themselves in Cloud 9, looking for toiletries after the airline loses their luggage.

13 of 21

‘Gen V’

‘Gen V’
Amazon Prime Video

There is no realistic way to get the chaos of Gen V into Abbott except for maybe a funny flashback scene that shows Gregory going on interviews at different schools, and one of them happens to be Godolkin University.

‘Modern Family’

‘Modern Family’
ABC

In a perfect world, Modern Family and Abbott Elementary would’ve ruled ABC together, but alas, one ended, and the following year, the other began. There is no doubt that this would’ve been the throwback of all throwback crossovers on ABC that harkened back to their TGIF days, and although Modern Family has been off the air since 2020, there are plenty of people who would not mind seeing those characters back on ABC in some capacity.

‘Bob’s Burgers’

‘Bob’s Burgers’
20th Television Animation

Why not spread the animation domination?

16 of 21

‘A Man on the Inside’

‘A Man on the Inside’
Netflix

The possibilities for A Man on the Inside are endless. One of Ted Danson’s character’s assignments could be investigating one of the teachers at Abbott.

‘9-1-1’

‘9-1-1’
ABC

Fans already know that Melissa loves her some fire trucks.

18 of 21

‘Bel-Air’

‘Bel-Air’
IMDB/Universal Television

All the people know is that Will Smith was from Philadelphia. No one knows which elementary school he attended. Perhaps he was one of Barbara Howard’s kindergarteners and wants to pay her a visit when he is back in town.

19 of 21

‘New Girl’

‘New Girl’
20th Century Fox Television

There could be an issue with Ava, and they might need a new principal to step in for a minute. Jess from New Girl was capable of running a school by the end of the show, so why not?

‘Grey’s Anatomy’

‘Grey’s Anatomy’
ABC

Crazier things have happened in the halls of Seattle Grace.

‘Living Single’

‘Living Single’

Queen Latifah’s Khadijah has taken Flavor from print to digital, is writing a piece on Black educators, and is now at Abbott.

Kendra Beltran

Kendra Beltran is a pop culture obsessed writer who spent her youth tirelessly jotting down ‘Total Request Live’ data after school. She took that obsession and a useless college degree, and spun it into enough to pay her rent by writing for MTV Geek, Collider, Popverse, and more. Over the years her interest in pop culture has only grown, and today she finds herself baking while streaming ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ running (slowly) while listening to podcasts about the ‘90s, and hanging out with her dog while taking in emo playlists
