Thanks to director Colin Trevorrow, the Jurassic World franchise continues to go strong ten years after it began. Now, he’s setting his sights on something otherworldly and full of conspiracy goodness. Trevorrow is teaming up with Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort production banner to direct and produce an Area 51 thriller at Paramount Pictures.
According to Deadline, the project will be set in the late 1980s and follow the Las Vegas journalist who broke the story about Area 51. Things are in the very early stages, so there’s no more information at this time about any casting, title, nor release date details. We do know that Thomas and William Wheeler penned the script for this Area 51 thriller by Trevorrow and Ryan Reynolds’ production company.
But, for those who aren’t familiar, Area 51 is a highly classified US Air Force facility a little over 80 miles southwest of Las Vegas in Nevada. For decades, the secrecy around this location has led to all sorts of conspiracy theories, namely those of the extraterrestrial and UFO variety.
With this news and Ryan Coogler bringing back The X-Files, we are ready for the weird alien conspiracy renaissance.
