POPEYE’S REVENGE Trailer Features Popeye Getting (Low Budget Public Domain Horror) Revenge
POPEYE’S REVENGE Trailer Features Popeye Getting (Low Budget Public Domain Horror) Revenge_1 ITN Movies

Well Popeye must have entered the public domain. I wasn’t aware of that before, but it must be true because the spinach-loving sailor is the latest iconic character getting an uninspired, low-budget horror film that makes no sense whatsoever. But hey, there’s clearly an audience for these things, otherwise people wouldn’t keep making them. (I assume?) So whether you’re included in that group or you have a natural morbid curiosity, here’s the trailer for Popeye’s Revenge.

Cause Popeye needs revenge. For some reason.

ITN Movies bills Popeye’s Revenge as a “horrifying take on the classic character.” We agree with that. Just not in the way the company means it. This is horrifying because it’s just Friday the 13th with Popeye.

Cool.

Directed by William Stead (Children of the Night), the film comes from the same team producing behind Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 1 & 2. In this movie “the legend of Popeye haunts a group of friends as they intend to open a summer camp.”

….Great.

The slasher flick stars Kelly Rian Sanson (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2), Danielle Scott (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), and Danielle Ronald (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey). Steven Murphy plays this killer version of Popeye. We’ll go ahead and assume a can of spinach plays itself.

So…how many more of these public domain horror movies that all look and feel exactly the same can the universe can pump out before we demand a change to copyrights laws that specifically ban them? After watching this trailer it feels like it won’t take too many more. But despite our Popeye’s bicep-sized snark, we’ll remain open to the possibility this one is especially fun. I mean, at least it only has a run time of 79 minutes. We definitely don’t hate that!

Popeye’s Revenge is now available to stream exclusively at Amazon. Good luck to you and the public domain.

Young Seattle Mariners Starter Causing Internal Battle Among Fans

If you scroll up-and-down Seattle Mariners related content on social media, you will undoubtedly see a bevy of different opinions on rookie third baseman Ben Williamson. Some see him as a gritty, glove-first third baseman who plays hard and does 'the little things.' Some see him as a guy with a 78 OPS+ who couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag. Others want him as a starter for life, and don't see any need to bring in Eugenio Suarez or Willi Castro at the trade deadline. Others see him as not even a major league player. The answer, of course, lies somewhere in the middle, as I discussed on the latest edition of the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast: If you want to go upgrade to Geno, I would get it, and I would support it ultimately because I think it will make the offense better, and the offense might need to carry you. But this notion that Ben Williamson is no good or can't play or doesn't belong in the organization, that's not fair either. I think he absolutely provides something, and we can have a fair and balanced conversation. I can acknowledge that Ben Williamson is a good player without thinking he deserves 600 at-bats right now, and you can say he needs to improve at X, Y, or Z without saying he's not a major league player. He's been excellent defensively, he grinds out at bats. To me, he's generally a serviceable 9-hitter, I enjoy his approach to the game, I think he provides something to this team... A former second-round pick, Williamson is hitting .256 with just one home run and a .239 on-base percentage. However, he is near the top of the defensive charts at third base, and only Ke'Bryan Hayes has more defensive saved runs than he does. The Mariners will take on the Athletics on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. PT. Seattle is 57-50.

Report: Bengals draw hard line in Trey Hendrickson contract talks

Cincinnati Bengals star defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been holding out from training camp as he seeks a new contract, and it does not sound like the two sides are all that close to a deal. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said on "SportsCenter" Monday that there has been "some progress" in negotiations between the Bengals and Hendrickson's representatives over the past week or so. The real disagreement has to do with guaranteed money, and Cincinnati's brass is not budging. "Hendrickson wants a stronger guaranteed structure, particularly later in what should be a multiyear deal. In talking to people with the Bengals they feel like, 'Hey, we've probably relented as far as we can go.' So this is a classic stare-off right now, and it's time to buckle up," Fowler said, via Andrew Peters of Bleacher Report. Hendrickson is set to earn $16M in base salary in the final year of his contract this season. He recently said he has shown a willingness to take less than market value on a new deal, but the Bengals do not want to guarantee him money beyond the 2026 season. Based on what he has said, the 30-year-old Hendrickson is not seeking to become the highest-paid defensive player in football. In order to accomplish that, he would have to top the three-year, $123M extension T.J. Watt signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Hendrickson had 35 sacks over the past two seasons, which was the most in the NFL during that span. He had 17.5 sacks each season and finished second in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2024. The Bengals took care of one major offseason issue on Sunday when they finally signed first-round pick Shemar Stewart to a rookie deal. All it will take is one side to budge in the team's ongoing stalemate with Hendrickson, but all parties seem to be dug in as training camp rolls on.

Steelers reporter shares big claim about how Aaron Rodgers has looked in training camp

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent the bulk of the spring as an unsigned free agent and, thus, only began officially practicing with Pittsburgh Steelers teammates during the team's three-day mandatory minicamp in June. During a Monday appearance on Pittsburgh radio station 102.5 WDVE, Steelers reporter Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette addressed how Rodgers looked during his first few training camp practices with the club. "His release is just astonishing to watch," Dulac said about Rodgers, as shared by Ross McCorkle of Steelers Depot. "Everybody knows about it, and when you see it in person, you see it every day in practice, you just marvel at it. To me, he's the greatest thrower of the football I have ever seen, even at 41 (years old). That flick of that wrist and that ball comes out, it's moving and it is something to see." Rodgers was with the New York Jets when he suffered a torn Achilles four offensive snaps into the 2023 regular-season opener. He was then slowed by a nagging hip issue, injuries to both his knees, a low ankle sprain and a serious hamstring problem as the 2024 Jets went 5-12. According to Pro Football Reference, Rodgers finished last season ranked 28th in the NFL among qualified players with a 48.0 adjusted QBR and 26th with a 43.9 percent passing success rate. That said, he was also eighth with 3,897 passing yards and tied for seventh with 28 passing touchdowns. Rodgers and Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson endured some struggles during training camp sessions last summer before the two allegedly "never saw eye-to-eye" during the season. It sounds like Pittsburgh fans should be encouraged by how Rodgers performed in recent practices. "That guy can get rid of the ball as quick as anybody," Dulac added. "He made three throws in seven-on-seven (drills) the other day that the cumulative total I bet couldn't have exceeded 2.1 seconds. And two of those were for touchdowns." Rodgers wants to finish his career "the right way" and help the Steelers notch at least their first playoff win since January 2017. As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had Pittsburgh at -150 betting odds to miss the playoffs for the upcoming season.

Astros Named Great Fit for Thriving Orioles Pitcher at MLB Trade Deadline

The Houston Astros have been on quite a slide lately, struggling in the second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, the Astros have quickly seen their lead in the American League West shrink. As losers of five straight games heading into Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, Houston has some problems. More News: Ranking Left-Handed Hitting MLB Trade Deadline Targets Mentioned for Astros A main reason for the struggles of late has been the number of injuries that the team has had to deal with. For most of the year, they have been without their star slugger, Yordan Alvarez, which has negatively impacted the lineup. Furthermore, recent injuries to Jeremy Pena and Isaac Paredes have left the unit really in need of some help. Hopefully, some of these sluggers get back soon, especially considering the rotation has also had its fair share of people being out. More News: Astros Named as Great Fit for Twins All-Star Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline With the trade deadline just a couple of days away, the team will certainly be looking to get aggressive to try to make improvements. One area that seems to be a priority is in the middle of their rotation. Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report recently listed the Astros as a good fit for a potential hidden gem trade candidate in Trevor Rogers from the Baltimore Orioles. “If the Orioles do trade Trevor Rogers, it'll be because they decided to sell high. And there is some sense in doing so, as it was just last year that he flopped hard with a 7.11 ERA in four starts for them.” While Houston is fortunate to have two aces in Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown, the rest of the rotation has some question marks. With a lot of pitchers out, the unit could use another helpful hand to provide some depth. More News: Astros Should Have Major Urgency To Acquire Bat They've Been Seeking Rogers from the Orioles is an interesting name from a team that has already started to be a seller. The 27-year-old left-hander came over from the Miami Marlins in 2024 and struggled with Baltimore. However, he has been excellent for the team so far in this campaign, and despite being under team control, the Orioles could look to sell high. Through eight starts, he has totaled a 4-1 record and 1.49 ERA. With a career ERA of 4.06, the southpaw is currently on a fantastic stretch. While pitching is an area that Baltimore needs to improve on going into 2026, they might be willing to move Rogers this summer if the price is right. Since the Astros don’t need an ace, a pitcher of the caliber of Rogers would provide them with a solid middle-of-the-rotation arm that has some upside.
