Despite not officially being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the time, The Fantastic Four: First Steps ' Vanessa Kirby is picking two moments from 2018's Avengers: Infinity War as her favorite moments from the franchise.
"I like the fight that the three women have in Infinity War," she told MTV UK. "Also, I cried when Wanda had to do that to Vision. That's a moment."
While fans sadly won't ever get to see Kirby's Sue Storm/Invisible Woman interact with Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, fans are crossing their fingers that we get to see her share the screen with some of the other incredibly powerful women in the MCU.
However, while Natasha might have been the first female superhero on the big screen, Sue was Marvel's first female superhero in the comics. "If you played an exact '60s Sue today, everyone would think she was a bit of a doormat," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "So figuring out how to capture the essence of what she represented to each generation, where the gender politics were different, and embody that today, was one of the greatest joys of this."
The cast of Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four: First Steps additionally includes Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Ralph Ineson, and Julia Garner. The Fantastic Four will be back for Avengers: Doomsday.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired,
retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25.
