Launched in early 2023, the sleek receiver comes with a voice remote, which makes it easier to browse apps—including Max, Netflix and others—without having to deal with the inconvenience of changing TV inputs. Parents will appreciate the device's protective measures for kids. You can easily enable or disable parental controls as needed. Once activated, a PIN is required to make changes or disable the controls. You can review movie and TV show ratings, impose channel access restrictions, establish daily viewing limits and impose spending caps on on-demand purchases using these settings.

How to use the DIRECTV Gemini

To utilize all of the features of Gemini, you will be required to have a Google account and input your Google ID and password during the setup process.

Gemini can only be operated with the Gemini remote, and the Genie remote will not be compatible. You have the option to navigate the system using the remote's buttons or take advantage of its voice-activated features, powered by Google Assistant.

The Gemini remote allows you to request channel changes, search for specific types of shows, and receive personalized show recommendations. Moreover, you can inquire about recent sports scores, stock prices, and weather forecasts using the remote.
