Just three days ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft there is a growing sense that the Miami Dolphins will not take Tua Tagovailoa.
NBC Sports’ Peter King predicted in his weekly column that the Dolphins would take Justin Herbert, whether they trade up with Detroit or stand pat at No. 5 overall.
Following up on this line of thinking, Albert Breer of The MMQB reported Monday night that he “can’t find anyone who thinks Miami is taking” Tagovailoa.
This could mean that the Dolphins absolutely are taking Tagovailoa, given that it’s lying season in the NFL ahead of the draft. Then again, given all the smoke about teams souring on the former Alabama star quarterback due to his medicals, it could be right on point.
A few weeks ago, I predicted that Tagovailao could experience an ugly draft-day slide due to the uniqueness of this year’s draft (stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic).
In his column Monday, Breer agreed with that notion. He wrote that if he ends up getting past the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 6, “it, of course, leads to Tagovailoa sliding, because from there it’s hard to find a home for him.”
Could we be witnessing an Aaron Rodgers-type slide on Thursday night? It won’t be long now until we know for sure.
