Cardinals Release Statement Regarding Team’s TV Announcer
Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

Shocking news hit St. Louis on Monday night when it was revealed that Dan McLaughlin, the TV announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals, was arrested the night before on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

According to a statement from local police, there had been two separate reports of a suspicious vehicle believed to be operated by an impaired driver.

Police followed the vehicle on Interstate Highway 270 and noticed that the driver was failing to maintain a single line.

After the vehicle exited the highway, police initiated a traffic stop and discovered that McLaughlin was the one operating the vehicle.

This morning, the Cardinals and Bally Sports Midwest released a joint statement on the situation.

Cards Announcer Arrested On DWI Charge

This is sad news for both McLaughlin and the City of St. Louis.

The 48-year-old has been the play-by-play television announcer of the Cardinals for decades.

He is a beloved figure in the St. Louis community, providing insight and analysis on local sports.

Unfortunately, this will very likely spell the end of McLaughlin’s tenure as the Cardinals TV announcer.

His podcast, Scoops With Danny Mac, where McLaughlin invites guests to talk about St. Louis sports, may also be in jeopardy.

This is also not the first time that McLaughlin has been arrested for driving while intoxicated.

The famed announcer was arrested in November of 2010 and again in November of 2011.

After his arrest, McLaughlin was transported to the Creve Coeur Police Department for booking and processing.

Hopefully McLaughlin can get the help that he needs.
