Baltimore Orioles star Trey Mancini shocked the baseball world earlier in the weekend when it was announced he was dealing with an unknown illness.
One of the most respected stars in MLB, Mancini’s teammates and manager have released statements supporting the slugger. Though, the Orioles would not go into further detail on Saturday.
Mancini took to Twitter Sunday afternoon to release a statement while deciding not to reveal what is plaguing him.
Once there is more clarity, I will be sure to keep everyone updated over the next few days. I look forward to a healthy recovery and being back on the field soon!— Trey Mancini (@TreyMancini) March 8, 2020
It goes without saying our thoughts are with Mancini as he deals with the unknown illness. He has decided to leave the team as he gains more clarity behind the scenes.
Mancini, 27, hit .291 with 35 homers and 97 RBI during a breakout 2019 season.
