Righties Ben Rowen, Cory Burns agree with Mets

NEW YORK (AP) Right-hander Ben Rowen has agreed to a minor league contract with the New York Mets and will attend big league spring training. Rowen, 28, was 0-4 with a 2.47 ERA and one save this year for Toronto's Triple-A team at Buffalo, then was claimed by Milwaukee off waivers on Aug. 4 and had a 1.69 ERA at Triple-A Colorado Springs with 12 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings. ...

Blue Jays claim RHP Matt West off waivers from Texas

TORONTO (AP) The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-hander Matt West off waivers from the Texas Rangers. The Blue Jays made the move Wednesday. The 26-year-old West made his major league debut last season, pitching four innings over three games for Texas. He had a 6.75 ERA and no decisions. Toronto designated right-hander Cory Burns for assignment.

Rangers option RHP Burns for Wolf's spot start

The Texas Rangers have optioned right-handed reliever Cory Burns to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for Ross Wolf for a spot start Wednesday against Oakland.
