Just 24 years old, Chase Elliott is going to be celebrating his birthday later this month in fashion. Despite some technical issues ahead of Sunday’s season-ending race in Phoenix, Elliott took the checkered flag. It was a dominant performance from the young driver, leading to his first NASCAR Cup Series title. The scene at Phoenix Raceway was something special for Elliott and his fans around the NASCAR world.

A drama-filled season that started all the way back in February and was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic has now culminated in Elliott making some history.

Almost six years after making his Sprint Cup Series debut, Elliott is at the top of the NASCAR world. And while lot of the focus was on the legendary Jimmie Johnson’s final race, what Elliott did this season was nothing short of amazing. What made this even more amazing is the fact that Elliott had to start at the back of the field on Sunday after his car failed inspection multiple times.

Overall, it was a huge day for the family. Elliott’s father, Bill, competed in more than 830 races in 37 years on the NASCAR circuit and earned 44 wins. He’s obviously proud of his young son.

As for Chase Elliott, the Georgia native earned five total wins and 15 top-five finishes for Hendrick Motorsports in earning his first NASCAR title.

Obviously, those around the NASCAR world had their reactions to Elliott’s amazing victory.
