James Harden Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a bad spot to start their season.

James Harden has been seeking a trade all offseason. The Sixers refused to comply with his public demand, though they have attempted to trade Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers. Sixers executive Daryl Morey reportedly blames the Clippers for being unserious about a Harden trade.

Not only did no deal get agreed upon between the sides, but a report says the Clippers have shut down any trade talks for Harden.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that “at least for the foreseeable future, the Clippers are stepping back from trade talks about James Harden. They are essentially pausing them … they made their best offer for Harden.”

Woj says the Clippers may revisit the matter, but they want to see how their team looks to start the season before making any changes to their offer.

Philly may be concerned that the price for Harden has now gone down, not up.

For now, the Sixers are not letting Harden travel on the road with them.

Harden is in the final season of his current deal and making $35.6 million this year. The Sixers open their season on Thursday night, while the Clippers won their opener on Wednesday.
