Did James Harden blow off 76ers superfan Alan Horwitz?

Some Philadelphia 76ers fans were up in arms on Monday after they thought James Harden blew off a Sixers superfan.

The Sixers beat the Chicago Bulls at home 121-106 on Monday. They were up 59-53 at halftime when the game was getting ready to restart for the beginning of the third quarter.

A video that aired on TV showed Sixers superfan Alan Horwitz walking up to talk to Harden as the Philly guard was stretching at the scorer’s table. Harden then walked over to join his team, seemingly ignoring Horwitz, who was trying to talk with him.

Horwitz has been a Sixers season-ticket holder for 60 years and is nicknamed their “Sixth Man” due to his support of the team. He is also very wealthy and a big real estate developer in Philadelphia. The Sixers promised him a ring if they win a championship, so he’s not insignificant.

Some thought based on the video that Harden was blowing off Horwitz and were upset. Others felt Horwitz went too far by wandering onto the court to talk with Harden right before the start of play.

But another angle seems to show that Harden walked away because he was called into a team huddle for the start of play.

Harden looked like he was just getting ready to join his team for the start of the third quarter. Even if his intentions were innocent, the timing and approach from Horwitz were poor.
