LeBron James trained 'to be a football player' during 2011 NBA lockout

Back in 2011 when the NBA had its lockout, NBA superstar LeBron James was training hard…to be a football player. A player we’ve all wondered about as a potential NFL star, James actually was on that track.

During an appearance on UNINTERRUPTED, along with Paul Rivera and Maverick Carter, James dropped this nugget.

“Myself and my trainer…we really started to actually train to be a football player when it came to like October and November,” he said. “We started to clock our times with the 40’s. We started to add a little bit more in our bench presses and things of that nature.”

During the same session on UNINTERRUPTED, Carter divulged that James actually had a contract from Jerry Jones.

“I know [LeBron] got a contract from Jerry Jones that he framed and put in his office,” Carter said.

Supremely gifted on the court, it’s not hard to imagine James would be incredible on the gridiron, too. He also admitted he “dreams all the time” about being a football player.

Of course, the NBA worked out its issues with the players union and James returned to basketball. Since then, he’s continued to establish himself as the best player on the planet.

But it’s easy to wonder what might have been.
