Rockets reportedly guarantee P.J. Tucker's contract through 2020-21
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets are happy with P.J. Tucker and have made that message clear.

The Rockets are guaranteeing Tucker’s contract for next season, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Tucker is making $8.3 million this season and was under contract for $7.9 million for next season. However, according to HoopsHype’s information, only $2.5 million of Tucker’s final season was guaranteed. Now, according to Charania, the Rockets are guaranteeing the full amount.

The 34-year-old has been a vital member of the Rockets since signing a four-year deal with them ahead of the 2017-2018 season. He is averaging 7.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 34.9 minutes per game this season. His role with the Rockets has become even more critical since their trade of Clint Capela. Tucker has now been bumped into the center role as Houston goes small ball.
