An NFL quarterback initiates and sets the tone for each play.
They must create a bond with the rest of their team, make quick decisions, make plays when the team needs them.
Not everyone has what it takes to effectively get the job done in an era that includes Rogers, Mahomes, and Brady.
After 12 weeks, we have a pretty good idea of what players can do, and some should probably get comfortable on the bench.
Here are 3 NFL QBs that should be benched for the rest of 2021.
With an abysmal QBR of 29.3, Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions has not had the best year.
Once a first-round pick, Goff started his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams.
However, his numbers didn’t impress.
After signing a $134 million contract in 2019, Goff ended the 2020 season with 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
The Rams traded Goff to the Detroit Lions this year, and he hasn’t impressed in Motown, either.

Goff only has 2280 passing yards compared to the 3414 passing yards thrown by Derek Carr.
On top of that, he doesn’t seem to have a great bond with his new team.
His former teammates, while undoubtedly still supportive of Goff personally, seem happy about the change, too.
Michael Brockers of the Rams told TMZ that their new QB Stafford, who replaced Goff this year, was “a level up” from Goff. Ouch.
The Carolina Panthers had high expectations when Cam Newton came back for a second time this year as he once advanced the team to become Super Bowl contenders and even won the NFL’s MVP Award in 2015.
However, the excitement was short-lived.
Newton got benched in their loss against the Miami Dolphins and was replaced with P.J. Walker.
Before the switch, Newton only completed 5 of 21 passes and had 2 interceptions.
While Newton has had great moments in his career, he may find himself out of football soon.
He signed a 1-year contract with Carolina, so he’ll need to prove himself if he wants to stay in the NFL much longer.

Every QB deserves a chance to prove themselves.
However, when a QB doesn’t produce the results that they once did or aren’t meshing well on a particular team, it’s time to consider a new player.
Maybe these players will shock everyone with a comeback, but at this point, it looks like there are better options. 2 NFL QBs That Should Be Benched The Rest Of 2021 https://www.thecoldwire.com/2-nfl-qbs-that-should-be-benched-the-rest-of-2021/Sat, 04 Dec 2021 23:09:11 +0000NFLhttps://www.thecoldwire.com/?p=44245
