8 biggest takeaways from Lions vs Raiders
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

It wasn't the prettiest win in Detroit Lions history, but make no mistake that the Lions went out there and redeemed themselves after a tough loss to the Ravens. The Lions defense was on point all night and they cruised to a 26-14 win.

As always, I have thoughts on this game. These are those thoughts.

The Jahmyr Gibbs show

Usually NFL teams will script their first 15 plays or so. The script for this one was

  • Gibbs stage left
  • Gibbs stage right
  • Gibbs up stage
  • Gibbs catch

Gibbs showed last Sunday that he is ready for more and the Lions showed on Monday that they agree. They just let the kid do whatever he wanted to out there and he made it all work. He had big runs and big catches for runs. This is what Brad Holmes was talking about when he called Gibbs a position-less weapon.

Gibbs finished the day with 153 yards rushing, five receptions for 37 yards thorough the air and this beautiful touchdown.

Who's that lady?

The Gibbs touchdown is pretty, but that blonde lady in the crowd just lifted Gibbs up and brought him into the crowd. It looked like he might fall and this lady went full Stallone in Cliff Hanger and wouldn't let it happen. She must have dropped a player before and swore she would never let it happen again.

Goff Report

This wasn't Goff's best day, but it wasn't bad outside of the interception that just looked like he was trying to throw is out of bounds. The Lions mostly established the run in this one and Goff just didn't need to throw a lot. When Goff did throw it he had some big connects with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta and Jameson Williams. Goff finished his night going 26-37 for 267 yards and a touchdown. He competed 70.3% of his passes.

Thriller

It's Halloween time and there's nothing that says Halloween better than Michael Jackson's legendary Thriller video. I mean, the Halloween series of movies would like a word, but musically it's this. Let me cook ok.

Speaking of cooking, the Lions defense cooked with this thriller dance after Kerby Joseph's interception in the first quarter.

Anzalone

I'll be honest. I didn't understand why the Lions brought back Anzalone when it happened. To be fair though, he wasn't playing this at the time. He was fine. Now he's playing at a Pro Bowl level and he's making everyone take notice. Monday night was another good showing. He was all over the field on Monday night and it made a big impact. He finished the day with two big sacks in the fourth quarter.

McSack

Alim McNeil had a big night as a pass rusher. He finished the day with two sacks. Both came at big moments. The weight loss he went under in the offseason continues to be a huge advantage for him. He's gone from being a run stopper to a guy that can now get in the backfield and hit your quarterback. He has five sacks this season.

Evidence

This is something I just don't get about the NFL. They're all about evidence. But that evidence is always about whether there is enough to overturn it instead of whether or not their evidence that it happened. I honestly can't tell you if Craig Reynolds truly fumbled that ball. Nobody in the stadium can. Yet they still juts gave the Raiders the ball becasue there was no evidence to overturn something that they couldn't prove happened.

Lomas Brown

Congrats to Lomas Brown on getting inducted into the Pride of the Lions during halftime. I've had a chance to spend some time with Lomas and chat with him on multiple occasions. He is one of the nicest guys I've met in this league. Much deserved.
