Falcons invite several XFL players to minicamp
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons are gearing up for training camp and still tweaking the roster.

Atlanta brought in a haul of six players from the NFL draft, then another half dozen undrafted free agents. Terry Fontenot is cultivating competition up and down the depth chart, and several more players were added to the roster ahead of minicamp.

The XFL season ends on May 13, and the Falcons have invited defensive lineman Kevin Atkins, safety Lukas Denis, tight end Cam Sutton, and tackle Barry Wesley to camp.

This regime doesn’t care where players come from or how their path led to the Falcons; all they care about is if you’re a good football player and can contribute to the organization.

Terry Fontenot has consistently targeted talent from the CFL, most notably Dee Alford, who has turned into a significant contributor for the Falcons on special teams and as a reserve defensive back.

It may be a long shot to make the final 53-man roster, but these XFL invitees will get a fair shake in Flowery Branch.
