The New York Giants are predicted to cut the former $46 million veteran Allen Robinson before the start of the season. In an initial roster project by The Athletic's Dan Duggan, the receiver looks like the odd man out this season, as the Giants have significant depth at wide receiver on the roster. If it came to pass, Robinson would be one of the biggest name cuts across the league.
Fan favorite Isaiah Hodgins seems primed to beat Robinson for the last receiver spot, but a lack of special teams ability from both players is an overall cause for concern. The Giants are deep with a receiver room, including Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt. This means there isn’t a lot of room for Hodgins or Robinson.
Robinson only has recorded 69 catches for 631 receiving yards and three touchdowns over the last 28 appearances with the Rams and Steelers. If he is released, some potential suitors for Robinson could be the Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens or Saints.
