Giants Tight End Room Full Of Questions

The New York Giants have made a lot of changes to their roster. One position groups that has gone under the radar has been the tight end room. General Manager Joe Shoen and head coach Brian Daboll have done a complete shake up of the room. It started with moving on from Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph. This means that the Giants do not have any tight ends that finished last season on the roster.

On the roster currently, Big Blue has six tight ends signed. The main names to look at are, Jordan Akins and Ricky Seals-Jones arrive as free agents, while Daniel Bellinger is a fourth-round draft pick.

Ricky Seals-Jones, Free Agency

Ricky Seals-Jones is 27 years old and has played five seasons in the NFL for four different teams. He was drafted in 2017 by the Arizona Cardinals and after two seasons he made his way to Cleveland in 2019, Kansas City in 2020 and Washington in 2021. In his career, he appears in 54 games and has a total of 90 receptions for 1044 yards and 10 touchdowns. Seals-Jones signed early in the free-agency period and is battling for the no. 1 spot in the tight end room.

Jordan Akins, Free Agency

Akins is 30 years old and entering his fifth season in the NFL. He is a draft pick from 2018 by the Houston Texans and spent all four years with that team before joining Big Blue. In that time he played in 58 games and made 114 receptions, 1260 yards and three touchdowns in that time. He will look to be a versatile depth piece who can do it all.

Daniel Bellinger, 2022 Draft Pick

The Giants are excited for their 2022 fourth-round pick, Daniel Bellinger. He had a four-year career at San Diego State, mostly seeing games from 2019-21. In the run-first offense, he played in 30 games in that time and recorded 67 receptions for 961 yards and five touchdowns. He has strong hands and it showed in college. In his time as an Aztec, he did not drop any passes in 2021 and had a drop rate of 4.2 percent during his entire collegiate career.

Honorable Mention

The Giants have some other pieces int he tight-end room that will be battling for a roster spot. First is Chris Myarick, who is a free agency addition and has experience with the Giants in 2021, playing eight games before the G-Men decided to waive him. Austin Allen and Andre Miller are the other two tight ends and both are undrafted rookie free agent signings.
