The Jacksonville Jaguars spent a lot of money this offseason in hopes they can have a winning season for the first time since 2007. With so much hope and excitement for the upcoming year, here is a prediction for every game on the Jaguars’ 2017 schedule:

Week 1: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans

The Jaguars travel to Houston for their first divisional matchup of the season. The game will feature running back Leonard Fournette for the Jaguars, who makes his first NFL start. The Texans most notable rookie, Deshaun Watson, will not be the starting quarterback for the Texans, as the coaching staff has made it clear that Tom Savage will be the starting quarterback to begin the year. Fournette finishes with over 100 rushing yards in his first game, and the Texans have trouble scoring against a tough Jaguars defense. Jaguars 20, Texans 10

Week 2: Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars return to Jacksonville for their first home game of the season. Despite stealing a win on the road from Houston, the Titans are too much for the Jaguars to handle. Marcus Mariota shows why he is the top quarterback in the AFC South and leads the Titans to a convincing victory over the Jaguars. Titans 31, Jaguars 17

Week 3: Baltimore Ravens @ Jacksonville Jaguars (London)

This season the Jaguars travel to London to play the Ravens. The Jaguars are 2-2 in games played in London, winning the last two seasons against the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts. This is a crucial game for the Jaguars, as the Ravens are looking to earn an AFC wild-card spot if they lose the division to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jaguars, like the Ravens, will likely have to make the playoffs by getting one of the wild-card spots. Blake Bortles has his best game of the season, throwing for 300 yards and helping Jacksonville earn a victory in a crucial game. Ravens 31, Jaguars 35

Week 4: Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets

The Jets are one of the worst teams in football, but Bortles returns to his old form and throws two interceptions. Despite another 100-yard performance by Fournette, the Jaguars lose an away game that could be the difference between making the playoffs or falling short once again. Jaguars 24, Jets 42

Week 5: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Pittsburgh Steelers

After a disappointing loss to the Jets, the Jaguars head to Pittsburgh to face one of the best offenses in football. Jacksonville is up for the challenge, and holds Pittsburgh to less than 200 yards passing and limits Le’Veon Bell to 110 rushing yards. The Jaguars offense is led by Fournette, who shows why he was a top-five pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Bortles limits his turnovers, even though he only finishes with 230 passing yards. Jaguars 27, Steelers 20

Week 6: Los Angeles Rams @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars return home for what should be an easy game against the Rams. The Jaguars struggle early, especially offensively, but the defense plays well and shuts down the Rams offense. Despite the low score, the Jaguars outlast the Rams in a very physical game. Rams 7, Jaguars 10

Week 7: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

Despite a solid 4-2 start to the season, the Jaguars head to Indianapolis to face the heavily favored Colts, who lead the AFC South and will likely compete against the Titans for the division title. The Colts, led by Andrew Luck, tear apart the Jaguars defense, and the Jaguars can never catch up to the Colts. Jaguars 31, Colts 38

Week 8: Bye

Week 9: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Bengals feature an improved roster after a tough 2016 season and are another tough opponent for the Jaguars. The Jaguars get another great performance from Fournette, but Andy Dalton and the Bengals are just more talented. The Bengals get a much-needed road win and the Jaguars fall to 4-4. Bengals 35, Jaguars 21

Week 10: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

If the Jaguars want to make a push for the playoffs, it needs to start in this game. The Chargers are not a bad team with Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon, but they are beatable with the Jaguars having home-field advantage in Jacksonville. Bortles steps up and has 400 passing yards and throws no interceptions. Also, Fournette has another impressive performance as he makes his case for Rookie of the Year. Chargers 17, Jaguars 27

Week 11: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns

After two games at home, the Jaguars head north to Cleveland. The Browns are shut-out by a very solid Jaguars defense. The Jaguars offense does nothing spectacular, but Bortles does not throw an interception and rookie wide receiver Dede Westbrook has his best game of the season. Jaguars 13, Browns 0

Week 12: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Arizona Cardinals

After traveling to Cleveland, the Jaguars head west to Arizona. The Cardinals are an average team with one of the best running backs in the NFL, David Johnson. Though this is a winnable game for the Jaguars, Carson Palmer leads the Cardinals down the field for a game-winning touchdown in the final minute. Though it is a disappointing loss, the Jaguars are finally beginning to earn respect around the league as a potential playoff team and not as an easy win on the schedule. Jaguars 23, Cardinals 24

Week 13: Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars return home for a very important divisional matchup against the Colts. After losing to the Colts in Indianapolis, the Jaguars want revenge. Also, if the Jaguars want a chance at earning a wild-card spot, this is a must-win game. Fournette rushes for over 200 yards and wide receiver Allen Robinson finishes with 150 yards and two touchdowns. The Jaguars earn the victory in this high-scoring offensive battle that is one of the top-ten games of the season. Colts 38, Jaguars 41

Week 14: Seattle Seahawks vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

With a record of 7-5, the Jaguars have a legitimate chance of earning a wild-card spot. The Tennessee Titans will likely win the AFC South after the Colts lost to the Jaguars in Week 13. The Seahawks are having another great season and are the favorite to win the NFC West. The Jaguars are playing well and use home-field advantage to get the surprise victory against the Seahawks. Seahawks 24, Jaguars 31

Week 15: Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have another home game as they approach the last few games of the season. The Texans come to Jacksonville looking for revenge after a Week 1 loss to the Jaguars at home. Deshaun Watson has earned the starting quarterback job after Tom Savage struggled in his first five starts. The Texans look to be a better team with Watson at quarterback, but the Jaguars are playing well and riding the legs of Leonard Fournette. Jacksonville pulls out the win in overtime, but it is a long and physical game for both teams. Texans 31, Jaguars 34

Week 16: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Jaguars head out West with a three-game winning streak. They are in a tight race for a wild-card spot, but Bortles throws two interceptions against an improved 49ers team. The 49ers may not be one of the best teams in the league, but the Jaguars only score seven points and lose in a game they needed to win. Jaguars 7, 49ers 13

Week 17: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

With their playoff hopes dependent on winning their season finale, the Jaguars have a slight chance at a playoff spot if they beat the Titans, who have already clinched the AFC South. The Titans rest a few players after the first half, and Bortles leads a second-half comeback that ends with a game-winning field goal as time expires. Jaguars 17, Titans 16

Will the Jaguars make the playoffs with a 10-6 record? They would at least have a solid chance of earning a wild-card spot. These game predictions include wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks. The schedule also includes two wins over the Houston Texans and one win over both the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts. While this could happen, the Jaguars will likely lose one of those games and earn a victory in a game I predicted them to lose. The Jaguars are a dark-horse team, and Bortles’ play will be the difference between Jacksonville making or missing the playoffs. However, based on my expectations for this season, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be competing in the AFC Playoffs.
