The Green Bay Packers signed a promising (and fast) tight end in Eli Wolf. To make room for him on the roster, the Packers released young wide receiver Chris Blair. While Blair may not be the most noteworthy name, his release indicates that the Packers are comfortable with the wide receivers they have on the roster going into 2022. Sammy Watkins signed a one-year deal that is very team friendly. Green Bay also drafted Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure in this year’s NFL Draft. Allen Lazard, too, will be part of the group once he signs his tender.

Chris Blair at Alcorn State

Chris Blair played his college ball at Alcorn State University. In 2019, his last collegiate season, he had 44 receptions for 931 yards and seven touchdowns. In 13 games, Blair had five 100+ receiving yard games. His best game was his last, a matchup against NCAT. Blair had seven receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Chris Blair with the Packers

Chris Blair did not get to play with the Packers in a regular season game last season. He went undrafted out of college and signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent. However, he did not play well in preseason games and did not record a single catch.

When the regular season started, the Packers wide receiving core saw itself decimated with injuries at times. For instance, Green Bay was able to defeat the Arizona Cardinals without Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, or Allen Lazard. Despite all of these players missing time, Green Bay consistently gave the gameday roster space to Juwann Winfree over Chris Blair.
