Randy Gregory blasts Cowboys after dramatic departure

Randy Gregory was set to re-sign with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this week before the deal fell through, and the veteran defensive lineman wants everyone to know that his former team was at fault for that.

There was a report on Tuesday morning that Gregory had signed a new deal with the Cowboys that was worth $13 million per season. Even the team’s official Twitter account ran with the news, but Gregory wound up backing out of the deal and signing with the Denver Broncos. Gregory’s agent later explained that the Cowboys tried to slip language into their contract offer at the last second.

Gregory sent some tweets about the situation on Sunday. He deleted one of them, which said the Cowboys’ owners “acted in bad faith.”

Gregory was also critical of Cowboys fans.

The explanation from Gregory’s agent made sense. Gregory signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the Broncos, which is the exact offer he reportedly received from Dallas. According to the agent, that is because the Cowboys matched Denver’s offer but then tried to sneak in the language to protect themselves. That’s when Gregory backed out and went with Denver.

Gregory has had multiple drug violations, which is why the Cowboys wanted language to protect themselves in the contract. But if they tried to be deceptive with the way they slipped it in, you can understand why Gregory no longer thinks highly of them.
