Russell Wilson addresses rumors linking him to Commanders
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Russell Wilson has said numerous times over the past several months that he is committed to the Seattle Seahawks, and that message has not changed with the offseason officially underway.

If the Seahawks do trade Wilson, one suitor that has repeatedly been mentioned is the Washington Commanders. Wilson was asked about that chatter during an appearance on NBC’s “TODAY” show Tuesday. He noted how he is from Richmond, Va., and said many people from back home have been pestering him about the possibility of him playing for Washington. However, Wilson insists he is very happy in Seattle.

Wilson has had a similar response any time he has been asked about a potential trade. Though, there have been reports that he wants to explore situations that would give him a better chance to win.

The Commanders are openly looking to make a major upgrade at quarterback this offseason, so they would undoubtedly have interest in Wilson if the nine-time Pro Bowler were to become available.

Wilson, who has a full no-trade clause, was openly unhappy with the state of the Seahawks last offseason. His agent even went public with a list of teams for which Wilson would be willing to play. The Seahawks appeared to address some of his concerns, but they then struggled through a 7-10 season. It was the first time since they drafted Wilson in 2012 that the Seahawks have finished below .500.
