The San Jose Sharks are building quite the impressive young core, but on Friday, they surprisingly announced the termination of a 31-year old veteran forward who played in three games for them this past season.
The Sharks and center Andrew Poturalski are headed for a mutual contract termination, the club announced Friday (via Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group).
Andrew Poturalski is the AHL points leader this season. He’s also the San Jose Barracuda’s leading goal scorer. And perhaps most importantly, per head coach John McCarthy, he and fellow Coachella Valley Firebirds alumni Jimmy Schuldt have helped lead the transformation of the Barracuda locker room.
Forward Andrew Poturalski recently expressed his hunger to crack the roster of the San Jose Sharks in a recent interview with Bill Hoppe of Buffalo Hockey.
So far, Andrew Poturalski’s perennial status as one of the AHL’s most dynamic, consistent and clutch scorers has earned him just a few cups of coffee in the NHL.
The San Jose Sharks announced the team has signed forward Andrew Poturalski to a two-year contract. The deal pays the 30-year-old forward $800,000 at the NHL level and he’ll earn $475,000 in the minors in 2024-25 and $500,000 the following season.
