However, by the same token, there is no doubt: Many others seriously doubted general manager Kent Hughes would take the generally accepted second-best player available at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Ivan Demidov, after he dropped to the Habs at No.
At this point, you know: Ivan Demidov was the Canadiens’ choice. The Flames, Predators and other clubs may have called for the chance to draft him in the fifth spot, but the Russian was management’s choice.
