Manchester United’s FA Cup campaign kicks off on Monday night when Aston Villa come to Old Trafford for the third round tie.

The Reds are looking to win the competition for a 13th time this season, which would be our first triumph in the FA Cup since 2016, but we’ve a long way to go before talking about semi-finals or the final.

We can expect a tough task from Steven Gerrard’s Villa side, and so Ralf Rangnick may not take many risks with his team selection. It will make for a very bleak second half of the season if United crash out of another cup competition in its early stages.

Rangnick gave a team update at his press conference on Friday afternoon, after Victor Lindelof returned to training at Carrington, but skipper Harry Maguire has yet to recovery from his knock.

Speaking to the official Manchester United website, Rangnick said: “Victor is back in training, since yesterday, which is very good news for us. Harry hasn’t been able to train, as yet, and we have to wait and see how this develops, tomorrow or the day after. With Harry, there is still a question mark, but Victor will definitely be available for the game on Monday.”

You can guarantee that Lindelof will be in the starting line-up!
