Watch: ‘Offended’ Shaquille O’Neal has an epic reaction to Candace Parker snubbing him off her NBA all-time starting 5
Lucas Peltier-USA TODAY Sports

NBA legend, Shaquille O’Neal is arguably one of the greatest players to ever play in the league. The Diesel has been mentioned in numerous all-time lists, known as the most dominant threat to ever step foot on the paint. Though recently, the Aces’ forward, Candace Parker revealed her all-time top 5 list. To everyone’s surprise on the Pregame show, her list did not include the Diesel.

Candace’s list featured Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant , Stephen Curry, LeBron James , and Kevin Garnett . While most fans would acknowledge this list, having the all-time scoring leader on the roster with the greatest shooter of all time, one would think of including O’Neal.

Candace Parker said,

We are in my game, we are playing positionless basketball.

Shaq’s reaction to Parker’s all-time list was pure entertainment. The big man chose to look away as the latter tried explaining her all-time starting five.

Modern basketball does seem to generalize positionless basketball, and that is exactly how Parker tried to structure her list. While every fan has a different opinion on the game, how would Shaq fit in the similar starting five given by Parker?

Is Shaquille O’Neal a top 5 player in NBA history?

O’Neal was a dominant force in the NBA ever since his rookie season. He won the Rookie of the Year award, along with his first All-Star selection, and was voted 7th in MVP voting. Following his time in Orlando, O’Neal played his best basketball in Los Angeles. Playing for the Lakers, alongside Kobe Bryant, Shaq won three-consecutive championships and an MVP award.

In his MVP season, O’Neal averaged 29.7 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game on a 57.4% shooting from the field. No one was as dangerous and dominant of a scorer as him in the 90s. For him to be in the all-time starting five is not a surprise to anyone. The four-time champ accomplished a lot on the court, as well as off the court during his NBA career.

Following the end of the Bulls dynasty, O’Neal and the Lakers were the new leaders of the league. He and Kobe both led the league in all the major aspects, becoming the face of the Association. Having multiple accolades under his name, Shaq is definitely a top 5 player in NBA history. Not only that but after his retirement, O’Neal’s personality skyrocketed, becoming one of the wealthiest and most respected individuals in the world of sports and entertainment.
